A man is 6ft tall and his shadow is 4 ft tall. A flagpole is 30 ft tall, how tall is its shadow?

This question is very common on the ASVAB. It overwhelms many people, but it is actually pretty simply. It is solved by using a proportion.

object/shadow = object/shadow
6/4 = 30/x
Cross multiply to solve.
6x = 120
x= 20
The flagpole would have a 20ft shadow.
